Cars in German Town Found Covered with Swastikas in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Roughly fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.

Police report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.

The liquid had been drawn in the form of a swastika, they added.

Law enforcement then found many other vandalized vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Officials report initial examinations suggest the liquid was likely human blood.

"Currently there is no clue as to where it came from; officials are currently not informed of any injuries in connection with the incident," they stated.

City officials stated they were trying "to resolve the case" and have appealed to the public for tips.

A senior official stated the vandalism rendered him without words and needed to be addressed quickly.

"This event affects the center of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he posted on a platform, recalling the death of nine people by a gunman aiming at people of migrant background in five years prior.
